Lù Yún was born to Shika Sora and Xīng Sora, and was born blind in one eye. Her mother and father died in a car accident when Lù and her twin sister were only 6. She was sent to a foster home with her twin sister. They refused to do anything unless they did it together. When she was 10, she learned how to use a sewing machine. That became the only thing she did without her sister; Huābàn refused to use a sewing machine because she thought she might sew her arm to what she was sewing. Lù would spend hours sewing things, and eventually, she was asked by the other children to make and patch clothes for them, which she eagerly did. One day, she and Huābàn were adopted by Huā Ài and Tàiyáng Ài at age 12. When she started high school at age 14, Lù and Huābàn met Violet. The three of them became friends almost instantly.
Lù dyed her hair blue at the tips to try to look more like her adoptive mother, who had dyed her hair blue.
